Hampton Bay dehumidifiers have been recalled following a spate of fire hazards, since, about 18 of them caught fire, reportedly. Home Depot and Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) have participated in the voluntary recall of the Hampton Bay dehumidifiers, as they pose burn hazards and fire hazards as well. Approximately, 2000 numbers of the HB-50 model dehumidifiers have been recalled. These dehumidifiers were supposedly sold between the period of Nov’ 2000 and May’ 2007.
The reported technical fault is that an interior component failure might lead to the overheating of the dehumidifier and could potentially create a dangerous situation of a fire hazard or a burn hazard. So far, 18 consumers have reported about the dehumidifier catching fire and another lone consumer has reported about a burn injury to his arm upon direct contact with the appliance. Subsequently, all consumers have been reportedly advised to return the Hampton Bay Dehumidifiers. And, in exchange, a gift card mentioning the paid amount of money in full, for the product, is being given, reportedly.
